What is hallux limitus?
Hallux limitus is reduced range of motion in the big toe joint (1st MTP), causing pain during push-off. Left unmanaged, it can progress to hallux rigidus — complete joint stiffness.

What causes hallux limitus?

How is this different from hallux rigidus?
Hallux limitus involves restricted but present motion; hallux rigidus involves near-complete joint stiffness. Both benefit from Morton's extension orthotics.
